5 Reasons Why Shanks' Reputation is Greater Than Mihawk in One Piece!

In the world of One Piece, reputation makes a pirate's name always be remembered. Pirates with very high reputations can even be recruited as Shichibukai by the World Government and are also feared by other pirates. Mihawk may be someone who used to be a Shichibukai, but Shanks' reputation is still bigger. Here are reasons!

1. Title Yonkou

Shanks was once a crew member of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger. After Roger was sentenced to death, he set sail by forming his own group. Six years before the initial story of One Piece, Shanks finally became a Yonkou. This means he earned the title as one of the strongest pirates like Whitebeard, Kaido, and Big Mom.

Although strong, Mihawk is not a Yonkou, but a Shichibukai who is often considered a "government dog". This was why Shanks' reputation was still greater than his.

2. Fight Against the Strongest

Fighting against “the strong” would increase a pirate's reputation. Over the years, Shanks has fought many powerful pirates. One of the strongest figures he has ever faced is Whitebeard. The fight ended in a draw.

Even though Mihawk holds the title of the strongest swordsman in the world, he has never fought with any Yonkou. Naturally, if that makes his reputation not increase any further than Shanks. Many pirates are probably more afraid of Shanks than Mhawk.

3. Haoshoku Haki

Shanks is one of the few Haoshoku Haki users shown. He first used this ability to fend off a sea monster that was trying to eat Luffy in East Blue. Afterwards, Shanks again demonstrated this ability on Whitebeard's ship. This made Whitebeard's crew faint one by one.

It was never explained that Mihawk is a user of Haoshoku Haki. This means that Shanks has more potential to become a king than Mihawk. Of course this also affects the reputation he gets.

4. Have Great Influence

Shanks is the captain of the Red Hair Pirates. He is also one of the best leaders in the story. Even some of his crew are people who are feared by high-ranking Marines. At Marineford, Kizaru stopped when he was pointed at a gun by Shanks' right hand man, Benn Beckman. This shows how terrible Benn's figure is, which also has a big influence on Shanks.

On the other hand, Mihawk doesn't have a crew at all. He also has no jurisdiction other than his headquarters. Because he always worked alone, Mihawk's reputation was not as big as Shanks'.

Shanks and Mihawk have fought several times in the past. It is said that their battle echoed all the way to the New World. It is not explained who won the duel, but it is certain that at that time Shanks was not at his prime.

When saving Luffy, Shanks also became a Yonkou. It wasn't luck, but Shanks' rapid development. Most likely his combat power has already surpassed Mihawk. Shanks became a Yonkou at the age of 33. If they dueled again, maybe Shanks would win.
